My Parents / Grandparents |
|
Sadly most of my grandparents have passed away. My Grandad and Nan on my Dad’s side passed away before I really remember, the only memory I now have of them is the weekly visits to see them. I would sometimes ride along with Dad and sit outside in the car whilst Dad and “Pop” had a pint. My Grandad on my mum’s side was called John but most adults called him Jack. He very sadly died of lung cancer through smoking cigarettes and a pipe. A lovely man. My Nan is still alive and hasn’t changed much in years. She’s still the same plump knit-a-holic that I always remember. When I lived at home she would come round every day to help out where she could. She’s a true gem. My mum and dad have been the best parents ever. Yes I know everyone says that.. But I’m right you’re wrong. Mine are better than yours so there. My parents are very hard working, my Dad used to deliver milk and work in the local theatre. For many years my mum worked for social services and a part time hairdresser / Tupperware / clothes party organizer. In 1983 we moved to a new home and shortly after we boarded cats. My auntie introduced us to the idea of caring for old people and the rest they say is history. Many years and much work later and they are now proud owners of 4 care homes. They have eased back a bit and now help the children out with running the business. Their other hobbies are exotic holidays, smoking (my Dad’s vice) and a local seniors club on a Wednesday. Both are still very happy and thankfully healthy. |
